An Evening with Marc Smith "30 YEARS ON"

A truly memorable night, almost 100 invite only guests coming along to my *30 years on” evening. The evening was an uplifting talk about mindset, business, entrepreneurship and fun, often thought provoking questions from the audience session.

I invited my very good friend Lola of Prime Coastal Property to join me on stage and talk about her mindset, as such an inspiring young entrepreneur, I find myself always inspired by her passion for business and why she does what she does.

It was an amazing evening, which ran so smoothly, made possible only because of a terrific team and the support of our legend MC Dave Fitzgerald of Lashings, who took care of proceedings through out the night, absolute respect and big thanks to Dave.

The evening was great fun, a room full of wonderful people and I felt such great energy and welcome from everyone as well as amazing music by Roxanne Phillips.

A very sincere thank you to each and everyone that came along as well as the team at Christchurch Harbor Hotel and Personella who worked behind the scenes to make the evening the huge success it was.

Thank you!

Fighting Parkinson's

This is Marilyn and she is fighting Parkinson’s!

She is truly amazing and so inspiring. Marylin came to me less than a month ago and dur to her Parkinson’s she was experiencing physical and mental changes that she refused to give into and has been has been so determined to fight!

She experiences shaking in the hands, tremors, slowing movement and stiffness as well as increased anxiety which she believes to be the start to her mental health decline with depression.

Together we have agreed that we would use boxing as a toll to help her gain control and fight back.
Marylin in less than a month with regular training is already feeling mentally better and happier gaining more confidence and less anxiety each day.

Her boxing is getting stronger each day … Check out that right hand!!

I am excited and can’t wait to see how much more boxing is going to further support this courageous lady.

Night in SOHO

Fantastic time attending the premiere of Memories in SOHO, London, a private screening, for those who had a part to play in this fantastic feature film.

Then a beautiful meal afterwards with some of the cast, crew and friends who come along to support the event.

I’m super excited to see the futures of Nightriders and Memories, being on screen is something I’ve dreamt of since I was small so to be doing this and creating these opportunities has been and continues to be such a fantastic experience.

Coaching People To Freedom.

I have been very privileged over the last 10 years to be in positions of employment or running my own businesses where I have been responsible for mentoring employees for role specific roles, as well as coaching in the fitness industry.

My passion is coaching people, motivating them, empowering them to realise their true potential, as I look to inspire them to feed their inner flame. I have have always loved nothing more than seeing others develop, progress and succeed, we all have different definitions of success.

Were you told to spend £30k on a degree, get a job, work hard, buy a home, pay your bills and… Not much else!

You slowly realised that you wanted more than this…

You looked at others and felt different in some way, you wanted to push against the grain, create impact in some way, and feel like you’re contributing to something other than just somebody else’s bank balance.

When we look within and bring our full potential into awareness.

Let me help you feed your inner flame!

COACHING ROB.

5 weeks ago I was introduced to a very enthusiastic, keen energetic man who wanted to learn to box, a family man who I am sure one of his reasons to do this is to make his family even more proud of him than they already are. His name is Rob and not only is it is his desire to learn to box, but it was his dream to compete in his home town, a very big ask many would think, Rob you see is an above the knee amputee.

I knew instantly that I wanted to make this dream of Robs a reality as I have always been an absolute admirer and supporter of individuals who want to achieve, want to prove others wrong and show what can be done if we totally dedicate ourselves and believe in what we can do, in doing so achieve their goals.

Last week I introduced Rob to the WBC Cares UK team in Brighton who are now operating the newly launched Wheelchair boxing, safer boxing programme. Rob spent an evening with wheelchair boxing trainers Luiz Faye and Chris Middleton, he was also introduced to the former British and Commonwealth Heavyweight boxing Champion and Chairman of the WBC Cares UK Scott Welch. Rob received introductory training whilst in a wheel chair, he learned how to handle a wheelchair inside a boxing ring and the process of being able to move himself into the positions required to be able to throw his punches as if in a boxing competition, it was inspirational just to see this, watching Rob along with other keen to learn boxers getting to grips with boxing from a wheelchair was quite something to be proud of.

Rob this week begun his training camp being coached by myself on a one to one basis at New Era Gym in Bournemouth. The training will be hard, it will be demanding and it will be at times very frustrating, but the end goal will be rewarding and an experience that Rob will never forget and neither will all those who get to watch this warrior box and display what he has learned.

Rob is a true inspiration, he is totally dedicated, positive and hungry to learn the skills he will require to box on the 28th March and it will be for me to ensure he is ready, as Robs coach I will need to be sure that Rob understands, learns and proves to me he is competent to take on this challenge.

For me, I coach people for a living and I love what I do, whether it be in a gym or mindfulness, coaching Rob is as I see it such a privilege, coaching a man who refuses to let any disabilities restrict him from learning a sport he loves and has a dream to compete in is totally energising for me.

Rob now has a tough training regime for him to undertake, which will comprise of him learning all of the offensive and very importantly defensive techniques and skills he must have to allow him to enter the ring on the 28th March, he also has a training regime to build on his fitness and stamina, of which will need to be the very best they can be to complete his preparation. Rob will be boxing on the Box Beats Cancer Charity boxing show which will be taking place at The Royal Bath in Bournemouth on the 28th March, this is raising funds for Youth Cancer Trust and is all as a result of the time and effort put into making it happen by Stella Payne and Derek Smith, without them the show would not be happening.

As the training commences, the emphasis will always be on safety of the boxer and that will never be compromised.

Coaching Rob, the journey continues.

WBC CARES VISIT TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO GIVE GIFTS AND MEET PARENTS

As part of the great work the WBC Cares do throughout the year, WBC Cares do a vast amount of things to spread some good in all communities, all around the world.

Recently we spent a day visiting a sick kids hospital in Cancun where some of the children were so tired and sick that they could barely smile. Along with some of boxing finest, Shawn Porter, Badoue Jack, Scott Welch, Erica Farias to name just some of the champions that visited the hospital, we took along sports tops, caps, footballs, toys and gave them to the children, met with their parents and

It was so great to see so many champions present to hand out the presents and provide an encouraging smile to the children.

I always find myself feeling overwhelmed visiting those far less fortunate and also feeling like it is never enough, however if everyone does a little bit and if we can do at least something for one person, it makes the biggest difference to those who appreciate it the most.

Also it was great to meet the amazing staff, doctors and nurses that work day in day out to look after these little warriors!

Fantastic work on the part of the WBC and the WBC Cares.

"SAY NO TO KNIVES"

Saying “NO” to knives was the message and reason for a very special recent evening in Bournemouth. The Evening which boasted an impressive line up guest speakers, Big Joe Egan, former Heavyweight boxing champion and Mike Tyson’s former sparring partner, Scott Welch, former British and Commonwealth Heavyweight boxing champion and WBC Cares UK Chairman, professional boxer Chris Billam Smith and WBC Cares ambassador Marc Smith were all together for one night to take questions from a full house of captivated audience.

Also in attendance a number of local amateur boxers, the very inspiring athlete Kate Farley, a remarkable, very charming female boxer who has cerebral palsy, despite this absolutely does not let it get in her way, training very hard to learn the art of boxing.also Brett White of Poole ABC who was a key part to making the event possible with all his support and time he gave up for event planning.

The evening was a fantastic uplifting experience, lots of laughs as Joe Egan delivered some of his funny one liners and shared some great stories. There were some very emotional moments also as Joe talked of his very dear friend, recently a fatal victim of a brutal knife attack, each guest spoke of how they had been effected by the increasing problem on our streets of knives.

Marc Smith talked about the problems faced more locally in Bournemouth area and experiences he has encountered throughout his 25 years in the security industry, an industry that means being confronted with such situations far more than most in society,

It was a great privilege having Scott Welch along, the amazing work he does by way of the WBC Cares UK is remarkable, so it was great to have his input on the evening and extra special for boxing fans who were not expecting Scott to be in attendance.

The evening was all made possible thanks to the hospitality of Roxy’s Bistro Bar, who were very kind to hold the evening in their fine restaurant area.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and the guests speakers who gave up their time to talk about such an important cause, a lot of really constructive ideas were discussed on how to combat knife crime, naturally a very emotive subject and a battle that not be won any time soon, but we can make a difference, it will take time and it wont be easy but it can be done and lives can and must be saved.
